EpilPro II: the 808 nm diode laser in detail
The EpilPro II is built on the benchmark wavelength in laser hair removal. Its technologies and technical specifications.
Built-in technologies
The EpilPro II uses an 808 nm diode laser, the most widely used wavelength in hair removal, based on the principle of selective photothermolysis: the melanin in the hair absorbs the light and the heat gradually destroys the follicle. Contact cooling protects the epidermis.
Specifications
Power of 2500 W, energy adjustable from 0 to 180 J/cm², frequency from 1 to 10 Hz, pulses from 5 to 100 ms, 14 x 14 mm tip, Peltier plate and sapphire tip cooling down to -5 °C, scanning mode, warm-up in under a minute.
Day to day
The device is compact, requires no routine maintenance and no refrigerant consumables, which keeps operating costs down. In scanning mode, the handpiece glides over the skin while the pulses follow one another, to treat large areas quickly.
Skin types and sessions
808 nm suits all skin types with appropriate settings; very dark skin requires reduced energy and experience. The source mentions 4 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart.
