Non-invasive aesthetic technologies: the glossary

Laser, radiofrequency, HIFU, EMT, cryolipolysis, cavitation, LED, pressotherapy: the wiki's gateway to understanding each technology and its use.

What are we talking about?

Non-invasive aesthetic technologies use energy (light, heat, electromagnetic field, ultrasound, pressure) to treat skin, hair, fat or muscle without incision. Results are gradual and generally require several sessions.

The main families

Hair removal lasers: destruction of the follicle by light. Intense pulsed light (IPL): broad spectrum, more versatile but less selective. Radiofrequency: heats the dermis to firm. HIFU: deep heat points for lifting. EMT: intense muscle contractions for toning. Cryolipolysis: elimination of fat cells by cold. Cavitation: fragmentation of fat by ultrasound. LED: stimulation of cells by light. Pressotherapy: drainage by compression.

The wiki's topics

Laser hair removal, non-invasive slimming, skin firming, drainage and circulation, and cross-cutting guides: choosing a device, understanding certifications, knowing skin types, comparing non-invasive treatments and surgery.

A fact-based approach

Each article explains the mechanism, settings, indications and limits. The aim: to help you advise your clients with realistic expectations, choose the device suited to your clientele and work safely.

How long results last

It depends on the technology: laser hair reduction is long-lasting with maintenance; eliminated fat cells do not come back if weight remains stable; firming effects are maintained with regular sessions.
